Tournament History

The 2025 Thanh Nien International Student Football Tournament – THACO Cup took place from March 22^nd to March 30^th, 2025, featuring six participating teams. These included four teams from leading universities in Southeast Asia: Malaysian University, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Life University (Cambodia), and the National University of Laos. The two Vietnamese teams were Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism (the reigning champion of the 2025 Vietnam Thanh Nien Student Football Championship) and the host team, Ton Duc Thang University.

The Nanyang Technological University team, as champions of both the Singapore University Games and the Singapore Polytechnic Games, won over fans with their enthusiastic and fair-play style of play. From the outset, the Malaysian University was regarded as a very strong contender and was the only team in the tournament to defeat the reigning Vietnamese student champions, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The teams from the National University of Laos and Life University (Cambodia) improved steadily as the tournament progressed. Notably, the National University of Laos caused a major surprise by advancing to the final.

In the final match, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism defeated the National University of Laos 2–1 to claim the championship title of the inaugural Thanh Nien International Student Football Tournament – THACO Cup 2025.
